Smells Like Team Spirit

What brought folks from seventeen San Francisco design firms, with coordinated sweat and armbands, to a field early on a foggy Friday morning? Not an artsy version of “The Hunger Games,” but Design Dodgeball 2012.

Over two hundred people showed to hit others for legit reasons, high five co-workers and rock super bright sneaks and aggressive hair. Thankfully our Dodgy2012 app was in hand to capture the magic, letting people post pics to Instagram and trash talk on Twitter. Players, and those who came for the tacos, could also track who was beating who via live brackets.

Everyone played bruiser games, pitting us against Fuse in a final action-packed showdown. In the end, both teams deserved props. Fuse for winning the tourney, and us for being awesome and taking the coveted “Team Spirit” award. Yes, for the second year, probably thanks to the pom-poms. Also, the tent, Thursday practices, running through a banner, and dressing at least one dog in supportive gear.

All in all it wasn’t just a day we weren’t at work, it was a holiday. Like Christmas, but with brutality and beer.
